In California, a man entered a Long Beach home and kidnapped and murdered a 3-week old baby Eliza Delacruz and shot her parents and uncle. A day later, the child was found in dead a plastic bag in a dumpster in San Diego, 120 miles away from her home. The parents and uncle survived, but the mother and uncle remained hospitalized. Police hope that once the family is out of the hospital, they will be able to talk to them and get some more answers.
Neighbors and family members were completely heartbroken.
The police have no leads, not even a license plate number or description of the man, so they are greatly relying on the public to help find this killer on the loose. A $25,000 reward will be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects responsible for baby Eliza’s death. The only description they have of the man is that he may be hispanic or black.
Anyone with information about the case was urged to call Long Beach homicide detectives Donald Goodman and Mark Mattia at 562-570-7244. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
No one knows who this heartless murderer is, but the crime occurred at 6pm in a busy residential area, so police are hoping that someone saw or heard something. Detectives do not believe the crime was a random act, and the FBI is assisting in the investigation.
A GoFundMe has been created for those who want to donate to Eliza’s memorial service.
An all-night vigil was held on Friday for the precious child whose life was taken away much too soon. Eliza’s grandmother was joined by the group Justice For Murdered Children.
