Donald Trump Clarifies Meaning of Megyn Kelly ‘Blood’ Comment

During the Fox News-sponsored GOP primary debate on Thursday, moderator Megyn Kelly was torn apart on social media for her questions that many felt were biased against Donald Trump.

While most candidates were asked about major issues of the day, many of the questions that came Trump’s way had to deal with his past, and in particular, comments about women.

After chastising Fox News for their coverage of him following the first GOP primary debate, Trump went on CNN on Friday night and told Don Lemon that Kelly is a lightweight and not very sharp. However, the center of the controversy is when he stated this:

Carly Fiorina, the only female Republican candidate running for office, responded to Trump by telling him that his comments are completely out of line.

After his comments made their way around social media, Erick Erickson, the Editor-in-Chief of the conservative news blog RedStatedisinvited Trump from the large conservative Red State Gathering, and decided to invite Kelly in his place.

As much as I do personally like Donald Trump, his comment about Megyn Kelly on CNN is a bridge too far for me.

His comment was inappropriate. It is unfortunate to have to disinvite him. But I just don’t want someone on stage who gets a hostile question from a lady and his first inclination is to imply it was hormonal. It just was wrong.

I have invited Megyn Kelly to attend in Donald Trump’s place tomorrow night.

On Saturday, Trump’s campaign said he meant Kelly’s “nose” when he said “wherever,” and “only a deviant would think anything else.” He posted another tweet that took aim at the political correctness in America.

He later added that he meant “whatever” and not “wherever.”

Before his CNN interview, Trump had blasted Kelly on Twitter and wrote that Fox News “should be ashamed.”

His also blasted Fox News analyst Charles Krauthammer, who said the Thursday night debate revealed Trump to be “testy” and “thin-skinned.” Trump called Krauthammer “dopey” and a “clown” and added that Fox should fire him.
