Family Reportedly Posts Warning Sign to Speeding Drivers After Their Dog Was Killed

An impactful image posted online Thursday purports to show one fed up family’s warning to speeding drivers after their dog was killed by a car going too fast in a residential area.

“We buried our dog last week because you won’t SLOW DOWN,” the angry sign reads. “If you hit 1 of my kids your family may be burying you.”

It continues with a warning for motorists: “If you hit 1 of my kids your family may be burying you!”

A picture of the sign — which is undated — was posted on Imgur and sparked some debate between those who said the dog should have been tied up or behind a fence and others who feel the driver was at fault, the Mirror noted.

One wrote: “Am I the only one who doesn’t like people who won’t keep their dog contained in their yard and then upset that their dog is endangered?”

But another argued: “A person should NEVER be going fast enough in a residential area that a dog can’t simply avoid you.”

Others pointed out the importance of leash laws in some communities and mentioned that even at a low speed, an unleashed dog can run in front of the car and get injured or killed before the driver has time to break.

Yet a commenter countered the possibility that the dog got loose.
